Anyone who was JHSC-certified after 2011 holds valid certification for only 3 years
Wait – What's JHSC Refresher Training? Who Needs to Take It?
Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (the Act) section 7.6(1)(5), certified members that complete JHSC Part I and JHSC Part II only hold a valid certification for the period that the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) specifies in the certification. That period is currently three years. So, anyone who was JHSC-certified after 2011 holds valid certification for only three years. When the three-year period passes, one of three things happens:
1. The certification expires, and JHSC Part I and Part II must be redone if there is a desire to certify again later.
|
2. The certified (and active) member can apply for a one-time exemption from refresher training and continue being certified. (You can get all of that information and more by visiting the JHSC Training Information page for Ontario)
|
3. The certified member takes a one-day, CPO-approved JHSC Refresher course.
