Each year, the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) schedules compliance initiatives in specific sectors to protect workers' rights under both the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act, and enhance employers' awareness of their responsibilities. Struck-by material, equipment and vehicles Sector: Construction Phases: Two When: Phase 1 and Phase 2 are both happening now. They started in April 2024 and will continue through March 31, 2025. Details: Phase 1 is an compliance assistant campaign in partnership with the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association. Phase 2 focuses on inspections. Occupational hygiene : Chemical exposure in the workplace Sector: Construction, health care, industrial, mining Phases: Two When: Phase 1 is happening now. Phase 1 started in April 2024 and will continue through March 31, 2025. Phase 2 starts July 2, 2024 and runs to March 31, 2025 Details: Phase 1 is an compliance assistant campaign. Phase 2 focuses on inspections. Falls From Heights Sector: Construction Phases: Two When: Phase 1 is from April 1, 2023 and will continue through March 31, 2025. Phase 2 started April 1, 2024, and it will continue through to March 31, 2025. Details: Phase 1 focuses on compliance assistance. The ministry will partner with the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association as well as industry experts to produce a series of podcasts on falls related topics and publish Falls from Heights compliance assistance resources and packages.
